Water Saving Tips: Our focus with every sprinkler system we install and service is irrigation efficiency. Here are some guidelines and tips to follow to help you maximize the efficiency of your sprinkler system.
  • Use E.T. based controllers. These controllers use weather, site, and sprinkler data to create a customized watering schedule. This helps reduce wasteful over watering.
  • Avoid watering past 10 a.m. . Watering in the cooler parts of the morning helps reduce evaporation. High wind is less of a problem during the early morning hours.
  • Use sprinkler heads that produce larger drops of water. Fine mist spray heads are less efficient than rotors.
  • Use a run/soak method when watering. Clay soils don’t absorb water well. Using multiple start times with shorter watering durations will allow water to soak into the soil.
  • Use pressure regulating heads in high water pressure situations. High water pressure causes sprinkler heads to mist or fog, resulting in wasteful watering.
  • Utilize check valves in sprinkler heads to avoid water drainage.
  • Install rain shutoff devices
  • Adjust watering frequency according to the season. Your lawn needs less water during the cooler months and slightly more during warmer months. Adjusting the number of days you water according to the season will save you thousands of gallons of water per year.
  • Have your system maintenance annual by an irrigation professional. Spring and mid season system adjustments will keep your system operating at peak efficiency saving you water and money.
